It was a beautiful morning for flying, and I felt good climbing into the cockpit of my rugged Wildcat. The veteran
of 6 missions, I'd already bagged 4 Zekes -- one more and I would be an ace! The mission for the day was to fly
cover over an amphibious landing taking place near Guadacanal, and it was a safe bet we'd see some action.
